MIRfestival 2008
Athens, Greece | September 12-20
Deadline for submissions: Thursday, May 15
description
MIRfestival is an international contemporary art festival, focusing on the experiment at the crossroads of performing arts and visual new media. Named after the old orbital station, it aims to become a place where exciting art is being shown by Greek and International artists with a personal view of the world.
MIRfestival is a satellite, a system in orbit, parallel to other systems. Please take a moment to visit our site www.mirfestival.gr and find out more about this fresh festival!
MIRfestival is organized by MIR, a non-profit cultural company for promoting the contemporary art, in collaboration with private and public organizations and institutions. Its director and programme curator is Christiana Galanopoulou. VideoDance festival, which you most of you loved and supported was slowly mutating into a different festival, and now it has evolved into MIR. You can view photos from the past editions of VideoDance and get linked to the sites of each VD edition by clicking on the small screen buttons in archive.
MIRfestival 2008 will be held in an old industrial building converted into a cultural centre in the most upcoming area of Athens and in other nearby venues.
MIRfestival 2008 welcomes experimental and adventurous creation at the meeting point of arts: performing arts / live media / image. It enables meeting between artists of different provenance and between artists and the audience. It is a festival bringing together scene and image (where image represents all the research on the contemporary visual expression and respectively scene all the research on the human body and performance in every sense).
You are welcome to submit performance, small scale dance and theatre productions, live media projects, projects combining music and image or performance and image, installations, interactive installations, interactive projects, locative media projects, urban projects and interventions and experimental film and video.
Selected works from the submitted ones, together with works already programmed, will form the programme for the 2008 edition.
In order to submit your work, please follow the instructions in MIR instructions.
Please read carefully the participation conditions.
Deadline for submissions is Thursday, May 15, 2008.
